This wide and varied role is part of a succession planning strategy to follow into the Financial Controller position in time. Working as part of a small team, you will work closely with a talented and supportive Financial Controller who will mentor and develop the individual in this role to becoming a well rounded, commercially minded qualified. Initiative, drive, team building and a degree of autonomy is what will be expected of this person. Overall responsibilities will include assisting with all aspects of financial and management reporting; and planning and analysis.  Specific duties will include:- production of monthly management accounts; assisting with budgeting and forecasting; capex reporting; balance sheet reconciliations and maintaining fixed assets; assisting in preparation of month-end processes and preparing journals; and assisting with ad hoc projects. You will assist the Financial Controller in transforming finance towards becoming an internal customer focussed department which operations are supportive of and want. Ultimately you will develop the role toward business partnering and taking initiatives on business critical projects.


You will be studying towards qualifying as ACCA or CIMA, or may have started AAT and wish to transfer to ACCA/CIMA. A natural inquisitiveness, a passion for business, the ability to work as part of a team, the drive to develop your career  and the ability to use initiative when needed are highly valued qualities. Sound accounting knowledge and strong Excel and analytical skills are a prerequisites. You will also possess strong IT skills (including Microsoft Office), sound experience of accounting systems; strong analytical skills; and have the ability to work to tight deadlines in a dynamic environment.
